Fox News reported Thursday that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that in the past five weeks, about 8.8 million Americans have been exposed to the flu vaccine, which is the only way for people to receive it without getting sick.
The number is higher than the number of people who have died from the flu since the pandemic started in 2009.
But it is still lower than the total number of flu cases since the last pandemic in 2009, when 4.1 million people were exposed to a strain of the virus.
Fox News also reported that the number that have died of flu in the United States since the 2009 pandemic has dropped by 70 percent.
And the number in the U.S. who have recovered from the virus is up by about 80 percent.
